Description
A compact formation of saturated emerald-green Dioptase crystals, mounted on a clear acrylic plinth and protected inside a 5 cm square collector display box.
This natural Dioptase specimen comes from the renowned Mindouli District of the Republic of the Congo. The display face is densely covered with deep emerald-green crystals showing recognisable rhombohedral form and bright vitreous reflections.
Its strong crystal coverage and saturated colour give the specimen considerable presence despite its compact size. Brighter green flashes appear along thinner crystal edges and across faces that catch direct light.
The specimen is securely mounted on a clear acrylic plinth and supplied in a protective 5 cm square display box, making it ready for a collector’s cabinet, desk or carefully arranged miniature collection.
Dioptase is a hydrated copper silicate, distinct from emerald despite its striking green colour. It forms in the oxidised zone of some copper deposits and is particularly appealing when its glassy crystal faces remain exposed. The combination of strong colour and clearly crystallised growth gives it a recognisable place among copper minerals.
A Dioptase group rewards attention to both the larger faces and the smaller crystals between them. Changes in viewing angle can turn a dark surface into a bright reflection without changing the mineral itself. Its crystal arrangement, distribution over the matrix and overall silhouette help distinguish one piece from another. These are the features that give a cluster its individual display character.
The recorded origin is Mindouli District, Pool Department, Republic of the Congo. Within a collection of Dioptase specimens, this locality gives the piece a geographical identity alongside its particular crystal habit and natural setting.
The specimen measures 3.5 × 3 × 1.7 cm. Its compact presentation makes it suitable for a boxed mineral collection, where the individual crystals and their association can be appreciated at close range.
Condition: Natural mineral specimen.
Care: Dioptase is fragile. Keep the specimen in its protective box, avoid impacts and handle the acrylic plinth rather than the crystals.
