Description
A little window into a tangle of gold: copper-toned Rutile needles cross through translucent Quartz, with a dark natural mineral patch adding contrast.
From Minas Gerais, Brazil, this compact rutilated Quartz has a striking internal pattern. Fine golden and copper-coloured Rutile needles gather in dense sprays, then cross in different directions through the translucent body. Turn the piece and the pattern changes with the light.
The polished faces make the inclusions easy to explore while preserving the crystal’s natural internal veils and features. A dark natural mineral patch on one side gives the golden needles a sharp visual counterpoint; its mineral identity has not been confirmed.
At approximately 40 × 28 × 14 mm, it comes on the bevelled display base shown inside a clear protective thumbnail box.
The recorded Rutile inclusions are a central feature of this Quartz specimen. The fine needle-like growth provides internal detail that is separate from the outside outline of the Quartz. The contrast between the inclusions and their translucent host makes the association interesting at a smaller scale, with the internal arrangement contributing as much as the overall shape.
Quartz is silicon dioxide, a mineral whose familiar pointed crystals develop as material is added to growing faces. It occurs in many geological settings, including mineral veins and granite-related deposits. The variety of crystal lengths, orientations and degrees of transparency makes it an especially rewarding mineral to compare: pieces with the same composition can have very different natural architecture.
The glassy lustre of Quartz comes from light reflecting off its surfaces. Clear areas allow a view into the crystal, while internal fractures, veils and inclusions can scatter that light and create softer white regions. These features are distinct from the outer crystal faces. Studying both the interior and the outline adds another layer of interest beyond the familiar pointed shape.
The recorded origin is Minas Gerais, Brazil. Within a collection of Quartz specimens, this locality gives the piece a geographical identity alongside its particular crystal habit and natural setting.
The specimen measures 4 × 2.8 × 1.4 cm. Its compact presentation makes it suitable for a boxed mineral collection, where the individual crystals and their association can be appreciated at close range.
Condition: Natural Quartz with polished faces. Please use the photographs to assess its surface, edges and internal features.
For display, support the stable base or the supplied mount rather than a projecting crystal. Quartz is relatively hard, but pointed ends and natural contact areas can still be damaged by an impact. Gentle handling helps preserve the arrangement that gives this individual specimen its character.
