Description

Bright prismatic Quartz points and distinctive radiating needle-like crystal sprays create a complex, highly sculptural display face.

This exceptional Clear Quartz cluster from Sichuan Province, China, combines substantial prismatic points with numerous intergrown crystals and striking sprays of slender, needle-like Quartz growth. Their radial arrangement creates remarkable depth and movement across the display face.

The clear-to-milky white crystals show bright natural lustre and attractive transparency. Mounted vertically on its purpose-made stand, the specimen has the presence of a natural work of sculpture and is particularly suited to a serious mineral collection or statement interior.

Exact specimen: The opening image uses a graduated studio background. Six natural photographs and the accompanying video show the actual specimen from multiple angles. Colour and transparency can vary slightly with lighting and screen settings.

Natural inclusions, internal fractures, contact areas, incomplete terminations and minor surface irregularities may be visible. The fine radiating growths are described as Quartz based on the supplied identity; no separate associated mineral is asserted. The precise mine within Sichuan Province remains unconfirmed.

The radiating arrangement gives the specimen a clear sense of direction. Individual crystals extend into a broader group, with their different orientations building the overall outline. The fan or spray is worth appreciating as a whole, while exposed edges and faces provide finer detail within it. This combination makes the form more interesting than a uniform crystalline surface.

Quartz is silicon dioxide, a mineral whose familiar pointed crystals develop as material is added to growing faces. It occurs in many geological settings, including mineral veins and granite-related deposits. The variety of crystal lengths, orientations and degrees of transparency makes it an especially rewarding mineral to compare: pieces with the same composition can have very different natural architecture.

The glassy lustre of Quartz comes from light reflecting off its surfaces. Clear areas allow a view into the crystal, while internal fractures, veils and inclusions can scatter that light and create softer white regions. These features are distinct from the outer crystal faces. Studying both the interior and the outline adds another layer of interest beyond the familiar pointed shape.

The recorded origin is Sichuan Province, China. Within a collection of Quartz specimens, this locality gives the piece a geographical identity alongside its particular crystal habit and natural setting.

The specimen measures 37 × 16 × 10 cm, with a recorded weight of 13.8 kg. Its scale gives the natural architecture room to be appreciated as a whole, while the finer growth provides detail for closer study.

For display, support the stable base or the supplied mount rather than a projecting crystal. Quartz is relatively hard, but pointed ends and natural contact areas can still be damaged by an impact. Gentle handling helps preserve the arrangement that gives this individual specimen its character.
