Colour-Zoned Fluorite on Calcite · 130 g
Qinglong County, Guizhou Province, China
£37.5 (was £75)
Description
Delicately colour-zoned Fluorite cubes sit above a bright white Calcite matrix in this specimen from Qinglong County, Guizhou Province, China. The Fluorite is distributed across an open, gently sloping display face, allowing the pale matrix to remain a prominent part of the composition. Soft lilac-violet borders contrast with paler, subtly greenish interiors, giving the cubes a quiet but distinctive colour.
The principal crystals have broad square faces and a recognisable cubic habit. Smaller intergrown cubes appear between and around the larger crystals, while variations in surface texture create a mixture of glassy highlights and softer, frosted reflections. The colour zoning follows the cubic outlines and becomes more apparent when the specimen is viewed closely or turned towards the light.
The Calcite forms rounded botryoidal growth and a finely crystalline covering across much of the matrix. Numerous small reflective surfaces give it a sparkling texture, in contrast to the broader, smoother Fluorite faces. Shallow pockets and changes in height across the matrix help separate the individual cubes and give this compact piece a layered appearance.
This Chinese Fluorite on Calcite is an attractive choice for a collector interested in cubic crystals, mineral associations or subtle colour zoning. Its open arrangement makes both minerals easy to appreciate together. The photographs show the exact specimen from several angles; the display stand and an Avalon Crystals & Minerals specimen certification card are included.
As with natural mineral specimens, small contacts and edge irregularities may be present. Please examine the detailed photographs for the crystal faces, matrix and overall condition.
