About this Dioptase specimen

Deep emerald-green Dioptase crystals form a compact, sculptural cluster with Fornacite from N’tola Mine in the Mindouli District of the Republic of the Congo. Broad, glassy faces catch the light across the specimen, revealing brighter green edges against the darker recesses between the crystals.

The closely intergrown crystal growth gives this piece a richly layered appearance. Larger blocky forms stand above smaller neighbouring crystals, creating an uneven surface of angular faces and stepped outlines. As the specimen is turned, individual faces flash with reflections while translucent areas reveal vivid turquoise-green highlights.

Fine contrasting mineral growth appears between and across some of the Dioptase faces, adding delicate detail to the bolder crystal structure. The Fornacite association provides another point of interest for collectors who enjoy examining the relationships between minerals within a single specimen.

The cluster has a rounded, upright profile with visible matrix along one side. This combination of strong colour, reflective lustre and varied crystal size makes it an engaging display piece to study from several angles. The photographs and video show the exact specimen offered.

Natural and unenhanced, and supplied with a bevelled glass base for display. I will pack the specimen carefully to protect its crystal surfaces during transit.
