Polished Rutilated Quartz — Minas Gerais, Brazil — 35 mm

A polished Quartz piece containing fine golden to copper-coloured Rutile needles. The needles cross the translucent host in several directions, with darker inclusions also visible towards the central and lower areas.

Its broad polished faces and tapered outline reveal different arrangements of needles as the piece is turned. Internal fractures and cloudier areas are visible alongside the inclusions. The photographs show the individual piece from two sides.
