Large Green Epidote Crystal Cluster — Minas Gerais, Brazil

Large green Epidote crystal cluster from Minas Gerais, Brazil, with lustrous striated prisms and dense intergrowths. A substantial collector display specimen. Its expansive crystal-covered face and irregular, rising outline give the piece a sculptural presence, while open crystal-lined recesses draw the eye into the depth of the cluster.

Elongated prismatic crystals cross at contrasting angles through tightly packed groups of shorter crystals. Lengthwise striations and bright, vitreous faces produce a changing pattern of reflections as the viewing angle moves. The contrast between prominent prisms and the finer surrounding growth gives the surface a richly layered texture.

The colour ranges in the photographs from nearly black-green in the deeper recesses to lighter olive and yellow-green along thinner edges. These variations, together with the reflective faces, help individual crystals stand out across the densely crystallised surface. Close views reveal intersecting prisms, angular ends and small pockets between the intergrowths.
