Description

A compact sparkling Malachite specimen from Mindingi Mine, Katanga, Democratic Republic of the Congo. Tiny reflective surfaces catch the light across deep green, rounded growths, giving the piece a lively appearance within its irregular natural outline.

Small hollows and raised ridges break up the surface, with dark recesses contrasting against brighter green highlights. Areas of brown host material remain visible along the edges and reverse, providing a contrast to the green Malachite coating.

The close-up photographs show the exact specimen from four viewpoints. Its appeal lies in the combination of rich colour, fine surface sparkle and the changing relief of the natural growth.
