Tourmaline in Quartz
Karibib, Erongo, Namibia, Africa
£95
Description
An elongated black Tourmaline crystal is set into pale Quartz with gentle cream and pink tones. Strong lengthwise striations give the dark crystal a clear sense of direction, while glossy reflections distinguish its larger faces from the granular texture of the surrounding matrix.
The Tourmaline runs along the display face, narrowing into an irregular extension beneath the broader upper section. This change in outline gives the crystal a sculptural quality, with a dark, defined form held within a softer and more uneven setting.
The Quartz catches the light across many small surfaces, creating a subdued shimmer beside the stronger reflections of the Tourmaline. Viewed from the side, the relationship between the embedded crystal and its host becomes more apparent. The appeal lies in that natural association: contrasting colour, contrasting texture and a clearly readable crystal form.
